Three destinations in Albania

This blog is really for those internationals living in Albania and looking for places to visit.

The first spot is on Lake Shkodra, just north of the city of Shkodra.

Lake Shkodra Resort. They have camping, tenting, "glamping" and small houses to rent.
Telephone is 0692750337
email is lakeshkodraresort.com

Montenegro is in the distance

The facility is very clean, bathrooms, bar/restaurant and nice beach for swimming.

The next spot is the now famous Thethi in the heart of the Albanian Alps

12,000 tourists go to visit from May to October. The town is snowed in 6 months of the winter!
Side trips with short hikes can be made to the waterfall.

Another hike to the "Blue Eye" and cold swimming possibilities!

Walking around the town and seeing the stone guest houses and wooden roofs is a treat.

Finally, a tour of the 400 year old "Kulla" tower when blood feuds were mediated.
Below is the man who created this system of justice!

Quaint place to stay in your trip to Berat

Most everyone will make a trip to Berat to see the UNESCO city. The Ottoman style houses climbing the hillside on both sides of the river are amazing. Then the castle with its church and icon museum but also a community of folks living on the tiny streets around the castle, make it worth the trip.
A new inn/restaurant up on the castle grounds is called Klea and looks nice with simple but historic bedrooms.

I want to also mention a wonderful place to stay. It is called Bujtina Kodiket. The owner renovated an Ottoman house.
Located right off the main street running along the river, this inn has 4 bedrooms, each decorated with old items from the Ottoman period.
Contact for Gujtina Kodiket is best to call her English speaking friend, Bona at 0699967609
Website is thecodicecinn.com

As you enter the inn

A full breakfast with local dishes like sheep milk butter and local jams

This has nothing to do with Berat but on our drive we see humans herding turkeys. That is something we have never seen in America!

Enjoy this beautiful country!!!!!
